• What does Volunteering Experiences do? + -

    Volunteering Experiences is a volunteer placement agency. We offer a wide range of volunteering and internship experiences, as well as cultural trips that you can add on to your project. We look after our volunteers to ensure they have the best experience possible while helping those who are most disadvantaged and contributing to a more sustainable world.

  • Is it safe to travel with Volunteering Experiences? + -

    Yes, we try our best to maintain a healthy and safe environment for our participants. Before your trip, you will be provided with a risk assessment for your chosen country and you will be informed about the emergency procedure in case something goes wrong. You will have all the contacts you may need beforehand.

    We will make sure you are properly informed about the possible risks you could face in your chosen country and we will give you advice on how to act in different situations.

    Furthermore, when you join one of our projects, you join a big family. A coordinator will be designated for you and he/she can help you with anything you need.

    Traveling with Volunteering Experiences is a safe way to volunteer, as you are joining a team that will provide you with the support, guidance and competent assistance, and help with anything that you may need.

  • What if something goes wrong? What do I do in an emergency? + -

    Of course, there is always a risk that emergencies or incidents occur that can impact our volunteers during their program stay. Whilst you are with us, you will be provided with full contact information of our staff. We will also provide you with a 24-hour telephone number so that you can always reach a member of our team in the event of an emergency.

  • Which countries can I go to? + -

    AFRICA: Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda.

    ASIA: Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam,  Nepal, Sri Lanka.

    AMERICAS: St. Lucia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru.

    OCEANIA: Fiji, Vanuatu.

    MIDDLE EAST: Israel.

  • Can I volunteer in different locations? + -

    Our programs are normally structured by a set number of weeks so you can volunteer in different projects and/or different locations in the countries that we offer. We also have add-on weekly cultural trips.

  • Are there any add on trips I can do after my volunteering is done? + -

    Yes, we offer add-on weekly and monthly cultural trips, introduction weeks, adventure programs and relax programs with planned activities like yoga.

  • Why should I pay to volunteer? + -

    Volunteering Experiences does not get funding from any government and there are significant costs that the agency faces when it comes to providing a reliable volunteering project, safe accommodation, meals, transportation, transfers, coordinators, support 24hr etc.

  • Will I have all contacts and addresses prior to my trip? + -

    Yes, you will be provided with all the information you will need prior to your departure, including arrival and departure information, all contacts of our staff and our partners in the chosen country, the addresses of your accommodation and other volunteer accommodations nearby, safety information, a risk assessment of the country and our emergency policy and procedures.

  • Do I need a visa? + -

    You may need a visa for some of the countries we offer. We can find out for you and advise you on how to get one if needed.

    If your passport is due to expire within 6 months we recommend that you renew it. Some countries will not allow visitors whose passport is expiring in the following 6 months AFTER they are due to leave the country. Be careful with this and check specific requirements for your nationality before you apply for your visa.

  • Who will arrange my visa if I need one? + -

    You will have to arrange your own visa from the embassy and it must be correct before you leave your country.

  • Are there any health concerns I need to be aware of? Do I need special shots, medications? + -

    We recommend all international travellers to visit a doctor or registered travel clinic at least 4 to 8 weeks before the start of your trip and get the vaccinations you need at least one month before you travel. The recommended vaccinations vary depending on the country you are traveling to. All updated information about vaccinations is available at: www.who.int (The World Health Organization’s website). Don’t hesitate to ask, we can advise you if you need help.

  • What if I have allergies? + -

    Please inform us of any allergies you may have, so that the team leaders and coordinators are prepared and special arrangements can be made for you.

  • Do I need travel insurance & health insurance before I arrive in the country? + -

    Travel insurance is compulsory for all participants of Volunteering Experiences. You will need to purchase full comprehensive medical insurance before you travel to your destination. It should be valid for the entire period of your stay outside your country. Please, make your own arrangements prior to leaving your home country. We can advise you on this.

  • Will I have to arrange my own travel? How will I reach the accommodation? + -

    You will need to arrange flights to arrive ahead of your program start date and inform us at least 2 weeks before your arrival date. As soon as you tell us your travel plans, or how and when you are arriving into the country, we will arrange where and when to meet you. This may be at the airport or if you are already traveling in the country this may be at another location and whilst you are with us we will ensure all your local transport with us is taken care of.

  • Will Volunteering Experiences help in the purchase of flights, travel/health insurance or in getting a visa? + -

    Volunteering Experiences is not responsible for the purchase of flight tickets or travel insurance for our clients. Neither do we get visas on behalf of our volunteers. Nevertheless, we can guide you and help you with the procedures you need to follow. We are here to help you.

  • What are the age requirements? + -

    The minimum age for all of our projects is 18. There is no upper age limit however; we happily welcome more senior clients as volunteers.

  • Can I come on my own or do I have to come as part of a group? + -

    You can come with a group, with a friend, with family or on your own. If you are coming on your own don’t worry you will make lots of great friends while you are with us.

  • Will there be Internet Access? How will I keep in contact with my friends and family? + -

    Most of our volunteer accommodations have public WiFi. You can find out more in the location and accommodation information for your specific project.

    Besides this, we strongly recommend that you buy a local SIM card with internet data when you arrive to make it easy to keep in touch with other volunteers……handy for those spur of the moment adventures, or for calling a taxi home, as using a mobile phone as receiving calls from outside of the country can sometimes become very expensive or may not work. Our staff can help you to get a local SIM card.

  • Can I make changes to my itinerary or extend my stay after I have booked my trip with Volunteering Experiences? + -

    This can be possible depending on the availability of accommodation and the project that you have chosen. We will try our best to accommodate your request.

    The more notice you can give us if you wish to change or extend your trip the better, however, we do not guarantee we will be able to accommodate any changes to your original booking. 

    Note that changing your booking may incur in an additional fee. For more information about changes in your booking refer to our Terms and Conditions.

  • Can I get a private room instead of sharing? + -

    Yes, it is possible to get your own room at an extra fee of 90 euros per week. You must inform us once you apply.

  • How much money should I bring? + -

    There are often lots of banks and ATMs around which take credit and debit cards. But it is always best to tell your bank where you are going and to make sure your card will work when you arrive. It is also best to bring just in case money.

  • Do the centers have washing machines? + -

    There are in some locations, please check in advance the specific information for your program.

  • Can I take and drink Alcohol/ smoke at the centers, guest houses or at the host family house? + -

    No alcohol is allowed at the accommodations. Smoking is permitted in designated areas.

  • Can I smoke cannabis? + -

    No, we do not allow any illicit drugs at any of our premises. Anyone caught with drugs can have their volunteering trip terminated on the spot without any program refund fee.

  • What if I have a problem or disagreement with another volunteer that cannot be resolved? + -

    If this happens and you cannot find a way to resolve it amicably, please notify your local coordinator immediately and they will handle the situation to find a suitable resolution for both parties.

  • What happens if I lose my personal property or its stolen? + -

    We recommend that you do not bring any valuables with you since you will be staying in shared rooms and will be travelling often. We recommend that you bring lockable luggage with you. In case of any loss of your property, please make sure to inform your coordinator first. We may require you to check again before taking further action to make a report at the local police station. Volunteering Experiences or its staff is not responsible for any loss or breakage.

  • What if I get sick or hurt at the center? + -

    If you fall ill or are injured, your local coordinator will take the appropriate action to ensure you get medical treatment either via first aid or at a nearby medical clinic.

  • Can I bring a visitor to the guest house? + -

    No, we take the safety of you and your fellow volunteers seriously and people who are not participating in the program cannot be brought to the accommodation for any reason whatsoever.

  • Can I get a refund if I don’t want to stay? + -

    We require any cancellation requests to be sent to us by email at least 30 days before your program start date. Bookings can be amended and cancelled as per our cancellation policy. For more information about changes and cancellations refer to our Terms and Conditions.

  • What are some important recommendations for my health whilst travelling? + -

    Drink as much water as possible and keep yourself hydrated (be careful with tap water and ice, in some countries it is not safe to drink it!)

    Keep away from junk food, oily food, and street food. Make sure food is freshly cooked and be careful eating salads if you don’t think they are safe to eat. Chose fruit that you can peel yourself.

    Wear appropriate clothes for the activities you are going to carry on.

    If you have any personal medications, please take them regularly and ensure you bring an adequate supply to last for the duration of your stay.

  • What are the Terms and Conditions? + -

    Schedules could change due to unavoidable circumstances.

    Volunteers are requested to be back at the centers or guest houses by 22:30 everyday (depending on the country this time may be different).

    Mode of transportation could change due to unavoidable circumstances.
    Consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited at all our accommodations and projects.

    Respect and adhere to our code of conduct.

    Our local staff are there to support you and to guide you and make your trip safe and memorable, we request you to kindly follow their instructions at all times.

    You will not be allowed to bring outsiders inside our centers, guest houses or hotels.

  • Any other information I should be aware of? + -
    • For most of our programs, clients must arrive on Sunday. If you arrive earlier you may be charged for an extra night.
    • For most of our programs, airport pick up must be during the weekend. If you are arriving on a weekday, you will be charged extra for the pick up and should pay directly to the pick up person. Exceptions may apply.
    • Volunteer accommodation is covered from Sunday (day prior to starting date, Monday) till Saturday noon (day after program end date, Friday). Therefore, if you need to stay an extra night, you will be charged an extra fee per night.
    • If participants are traveling on their own (personal trips), Volunteering Experiences will not be responsible for their safely.
    • If the correct arrival details are not up to date or if any flight changes occur, please inform us immediately. If not, we will not be able to take responsibility regarding the pick up.
    • Client who contact us once in country and who are arriving overland must contact us at least by the Friday before the start of the program to arrange their pick up accordingly.
    • If you arrive past the starting date of your program, we will not be responsible for the days missed.
    • If you are over 50 years old, please request for a home stay as it may be difficult to meet your needs at the volunteer house with younger volunteers.
